I started this blog because I like to travel (duh) and I have always liked writing, but I kind of burn out when I try to get a whole novel down… but short stints I can do. I always take a million photos from every trip I take and I have a lot of opinions and feelings after a trip and then I force all my friends to listen to me talk about my trip for a month.
So you know… maybe I can get my thoughts out over here, help someone along the way and… just document my travels for myself.
I researched things for our trip to Rome for HOURS.
Seriously… I spent more days researching Rome than I spent in it. And it still wasn’t enough, because I couldn’t find the information I needed anywhere.
Sure, I found reviews on Trip Advisor but I already had to search for SOMETHING on there. What about the things that I didn’t even know I needed to research?!
And sure, Rome Toolkit was extremely helpful, but it still didn’t cover ALL of the bases.
Right now my plans are to have a kind of static site for multiple cities or regions and for basic travel tips and then this blog for both rambles like this one, maybe videos from laces I’ve been, galleries of photos that I don’t want to flood the main articles with… and maybe my plans, and short updates and things like that. We’ll see.
Right now, I’m mainly writing this for myself, less for anyone reading this, because I have a lot of ideas and this might help me remember them.
I feel like this blog space will soon turn into a diary if I keep on just jotting my ideas down. And then I’ll have to change the whole layout of the site. THE HORROR! Better not do that.
BTW: Did you see my sad attempt at making a logo? MS Paint probably won’t cut it. Such a shame.
Let me share those logos with you, just so you can laugh at me. I am. So…you’ll be laughing WITH me not AT me, so it’s not a black dot on your conscience!
The burgundy one was my first attempt. I like the color and I was playing around in MS Paint and it feels like a hotel logo from the nineties but I was okay with that… But then I found one single free theme that had all the features that I liked and it turns out that when you’re a cheapskate you can’t change the color palette to one of your choosing and the only palete that I liked featured a contrast color that was kind of a pastel-y turquoise so that’s what I went with… but that looked like shit with the calligraphy letters so I had to go big and bold and that monstrosity is what came out of it. Maybe I’ll change it one day when I get bored, but for now it’s what we’re going with
